Parent Involvement

We invite you to be a Christian steward of your God given gifts of time and talent. Below are opportunities to consider. We ask you to reflect prayerfully on these opportunities and ask yourself “How can I give back to God this coming year by serving others in His name?”


Sacred Heart School Board of Education

Purpose: To assist the school principal, the preschool director and the pastor in supporting our schools’ mission to promote lifelong learning and Christian values.

Responsibilities: To formulate and approve policies for the good governance of the school. To assist in the hiring process of the principal and teachers of the school. To formulate and approve tuition rates, registration fees, and lunch fees.. To serve as an advisory board for planning, operating and maintaining of facilities and equipment.

Time Commitment: Approx. 1-2 hours monthly (additional committee obligations are voluntary and constitute 1-2 hours per month).

Meeting Frequency and Time: Second Thursday of the month at 5:30 p.m. in the school library, no meetings in July and December.

Additional Time Requirements: Fall Festival outdoor game planning and working as shift supervisor (4 hours total). Catholic Schools Week Breakfast planning and working the event (6 hours total).

Commitment Needed: 3-year term

Additional Requirements: Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to the school mission through regular attendance at board meetings and a willingness to share new ideas, support Catholic ideals and work well with others. Application and interview with the pastor and discernment team required.


Catholic Schools Week Winter Fest

Purpose: To celebrate Catholic Schools Week.  We will begin with 10:00 a.m. Mass followed by Early Bird and Super Bingo at The Mill. The money from this event is used to enhance programming at Sacred Heart School. Organized by the Board of Education.

Responsibilities: Parents are needed that day to help serve concessions and facilitate Bingo.

Time Commitment: Three shifts, 10:00 a.m. to Noon, Noon-2:00 p.m., 2:00-4:00 p.m.

Additional Requirements: Some light lifting. You will be on your feet the majority of your shift.


Sacred Heart School Christmas Program Volunteer

Purpose: To feature our fourth-grade students in lead roles with children in kindergarten through third grade supporting as the choir in celebrating the true meaning of Christmas.

Responsibilities: To prepare fourth graders for the program. To help students memorize their lines and/or assist our music teacher. To help with costumes and set design.

Time Commitment: Two hours weekly October through December.

Additional Time Requirements: Dress rehearsal day, 12:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.; program day, 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

Additional Requirements: Volunteers should enjoy music, theater and enthusiastic children eager to perform!


Sacred Heart School Volunteers

Purpose: To promote lifelong learning and Christian values.

Responsibilities:

  • To assist the principal and administrative assistant with clerical projects for the school.
  • To copy educational materials needed for principal, administrative assistant and classroom teachers.
  • To assist classroom teachers with projects and work with students in the classroom.
  • To assist the principal and teachers with supervision in the lunchroom.
  • To assist the principal and teachers with supervision on the playground.
  • To assist the SHARP teacher with supervision during our after-school program.

Time Commitment:

  • Flexible. One hour weekly.
  • Flexible. One hour weekly.
  • Flexible. One hour weekly.
  • One day per week for an hour (11:00 a.m. to Noon)
  • One day per week for an hour (3:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.)
  • Commitment Needed: School year.

Additional Requirements: Enjoy working in a school atmosphere with teachers, parents and students. Virtus training required.
